Proverbs 12: 25
Anxiety weighs down the human heart, but a good word cheers it up.
As a mother, I can be plagued with anxiety. From the time of conception, we are consumed with worry about our children, sometimes to the point of being crippled. We fret about what to eat while pregnant, what to feed our children, where to send them to school, who they should be allowed to play with, and so much more.
One of my favorite parts of our Mass is the Lord’s Prayer, and this section in particular, which the priests recites, while we listen.
Deliver us, Lord, from every evil,
and grant us peace in our day.
In your mercy keep us free from sin
and protect us from all anxiety
as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
and grant us peace in our day.
In your mercy keep us free from sin
and protect us from all anxiety
as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Even reading those words causes me to breathe a huge sigh of relief. It reminds me that my job is not to be worried, but to let go, and let God handle life’s twists and turns.
Amazingly enough, I don’t think Abby has inherited my level of anxiety. She rocked the Pure Fashion show Sunday, and wasn’t nervous at all. I was sick inside — worried she would fall, forget how to walk or burst into tears. She did fabulously, and looked as comfortable on the runway as she does at home.
We were also treated to the wonderful musical talents of Marie Miller. I was able to meet her after the show, purchase her CD, and speak with her briefly. She’s one of ten children, and her selflessness shines through her music and attitude. I was especially impressed about how highly she spoke of her mother — this brought tears to my eyes.Stop by her site and check out her music — she and her brother are currently on a mission trip in Calcutta!
I highlighted St Joseph back in March, near his feast day. (March 19th) He is important enough in our Church to have two feast days ….. one highlighting his role as husband to Mary, the other emphasizing his work ethic.
I started a novena yesterday to St Joseph the Worker, for my husband’s career — you can join in as well!

Aruna says
that’s a great quote from proverbs at the beginning.
I also like the part of the Lord’s Prayer, “thy will be done.” This part eases my anxiety (as you said so well) to let go and let God handle it all.
