So, with working weekends, along with having my Kennedy Kaboodle, getting to Mass has become incredibly difficult on Saturday or Sunday. This makes me sad, since it truly is a solace in my life — a source of peace, refreshment, and communion with others.
Over the past couple of days, I’ve felt the need to consult our manual for living ….. the Bible. I’ve fussed in the past about wishing there was a guide for parenting, marriage, home life, and the like. Well … we’ve had one for over 2000 years — we just don’t always consult it.
My challenge to myself (and to you, if you want to join in), is to delve a little deeper, and connect our Bible to our home life, and listen to what God is trying to tell me. For reference, I’ll be using the Catholic Women’s Devotional Bible, NRSV. It’s written in an easy format, and has some Bible studies built in.
Psalm 127: Verses 3-5
Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.
What a beautiful sentiment, and one I’m going to hold close to my heart, when I’m up in the middle of the night. I do love my boys, and am thankful for them every day. (No worries; I’ll find a verse about daughters soon as well!)
