Best Laid Plans: Saints and Scripture Sunday

Saints and Scripture Sunday

Proverbs 16:9
The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

I am a bona fide control freak.

Seriously.

I need an intervention.

In talking with my friend Lisa Schmidt this week, I surmised that God must get a giant kick out of me. Instead of seeking His will, I buzz around, make my plans, then send it off to Him for approval as if He’s a giant newspaper editor.

Somehow, I don’t think that’s the way it’s supposed to work.

I’d love to be quiet and contemplative, waiting for God to reveal His plan to me. But, somehow, that doesn’t fit my personality.

Instead of lamenting my God given personality, and treating it as a detriment, I’m wondering how to use this to my advantage.

In other words, how do I follow God’s plan for my life, without going against my sassy pants grain?

Perhaps I need to call to mind this quote from one of my favorite women in the world — and fellow tiny dynamo.

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is bliss, taste it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.
Mother Teresa

What about you? Are you quiet, waiting for God’s guidance? Or are you like me, and try to control everything? I’m pretty sure I know where a lot of my friends stand.

Be sure and link up, to let me know how your week is starting out.

Perhaps we need to form a support group . . . “Hello, my name is Angie and I’m a sassy pants.”

It wouldn’t be so bad if I only thought I was in control of my business. But I think I should be in control of everyone’s stuff. I’m joining Angie’s group.
