This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
My youngest daughter is one of the happiest babies I’ve ever seen.
She wakes up in the morning with a smile – which is much more than I can say for myself most days! Watching her react to the world around her reminds me to slow down and to be thankful for the amazing blessings in my life.
Choosing joy for adults is a conscious decision. Many days, I let my grumpy side get the better of me. As a result, those closest and most dear to me suffer from my nasty mood. Attitude can be an elixir or a poison – it all depends on the flavor.
Ever been around someone whose upbeat demeanor is infectious? That’s who I can be, on my best days, and who I should strive to be, especially around my family. I need to take lessons from the tiniest member of my private club, smiling more often than I frown.
This week marks the feast day of one of our most joyful and beautiful women in our Catholic Church. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta is known the world over for her lifetime of service to the poor. I love to read her speeches and quotes, particularly ones about family.
I’ll be carrying this one in my heart this week:
Let us make one point, that we meet each other with a smile, when it is difficult to smile. Smile at each other, make time for each other in your family.
How will you make time for your family this week? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

How am I making time for my family this week? My mother and her husband, better known as Pop Bill, are coming for dinner Monday. YAY!
I’ll be kicking off Tuesday with the first day of school for the littles. You know that will call for a special treat.
I’ll try to fit in movie night with Rachel, but that may get postponed a week
What about you?

Since I know I’ve got a busy week coming up I’ve written and scheduled some blog posts and done some freezer cooking so that my little bit of spare time won’t be taken up with those things and I can spend it enjoying my family. I’m also hoping to to an overnight trip to see some extended family later in the week, something I haven’t done in a LONG time 🙂

Like Angie, I’m trying to wrap up some blog posts and client work today, so we can spend time at the pool tomorrow. It’s a busy week, but one that will be made easier and more fruitful if I can use my time wisely today!
