JoySprouts : Using Preschool Apps in Your Homeschool

By Dianna Kennedy 1 Comment

As the mother of many, juggling all the different ages in our homeschool can be a challenge. While I’m teaching my big kids, I need to have Maeve engaged in learning as well. One of our favorite {and mess free} ways that we supplement our homeschool is with using preschool learning apps.

Using Preschool Apps in Your Homeschool

This post is brought to you from the folks at JoySprouts. I received this app for free and was compensated for my time. As always, opinions are my very own.

Recently, we gave JoySprouts early childhood app a try. Everyone in the house was interested, even the big brothers and little brothers.

Different areas of JoySprouts work on different preschool skills. Some of the things we’ve experienced include:
identifying colors and shapes
counting
matching
sequencing
patterns

Maeve’s favorite so far is Where is Pooky? I’m looking forward to seeing her try out the BBC Animal Rescue soon. JoySprouts offers 8 different areas called Sprouts for little ones to explore and learn.

JoySprouts divides learning areas into the following categories.

Cognition and General Knowledge (Math, Science, and Social studies)
Language and Literacy
Learning Approaches
Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development and Health

With this total development approach, they’re encouraging growth intellectually, socially, emotionally and academically.

Using the parent’s dashboard is a snap. As your little one works through different arenas of the app, they earn points or ‘eggs’ in JoySprout speak. You can easly track areas where your children are excelling, or areas in which they need work. (for Maeve, she’s got colors down pat, but needs practice with patterns)

For our family, this app is a great way to encourage learning in my precocious toddler while I work one on one with my older children. My older boys even sneak and try out some of the Sprouts on their own, like the BBC Ocean Rescue or I am Fit!

You can find this app in the iTunes store for $9.99. You’re able to add multiple children to the account, which is great for large families like ours. This will be an app we’ll be using for years, with Maeve and Daniel.

In my opinion edapps are very necessary for our children. Study is important at school, home and at all different activity, so.. educational apps are really cool. In addition to traditional teaching play with tablet and fun apps our children quickly they get to know the world around them.
