Romans 8:18
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
I’m one of those crazy women who really do love being pregnant.
I feel blessed with a precious gift, and excited about the changes in my life.
I feel great …. until week five or so hits me. I’ve been laid up the past two weeks with incredible fatigue, and never ending nausea. I’ve had to give up my beloved running, which is making my mood less than stellar.
I’ve had to say ‘NO’ to projects, parties and invitations, and I hate feeling like life is whizzing along without me.
I have to lean heavily on my husband for help. This reminds me that marriage isn’t always 50/50. Right now in my house, it’s about 80/20. I have to remember that it ebbs and flows back and forth, like a tide, and that no one is keeping score.
I’m spending a lot of time with my feet up, catching up on my reading. I’m trying to offer this up, but I’m not the most gracious person when it comes to suffering. I’ll be putting out plenty of prayers to St Gerard.
This one is my favorite:
O almighty and everlasting God, through the Holy Spirit, you prepared the body and soul of the glorious virgin Mary to be a worthy dwelling place of your divine Son. Through the same Holy Spirit, you sanctified St. John the Baptist, while still in his mother’s womb. Hear the prayers of your humble servant who implores you, through the intercession of St. Gerard, to protect me amid the dangers of childbearing and to watch over the child with which you blessed me. May this child be cleansed by the saving water of baptism and, after a Christian life on earth, may we, both mother and child, attain everlasting bliss in heaven.
Amen.
What about you? Is it easy for you to ask for help? Or are you stubborn, like me, and try to do it all yourself?

I am most definately a do it all kind of mama. Right now it is somewhat out of necessity but I hope that it doesn’t become too much of a habit.
Pregnancy is such a short time, enjoy your rest and preparing for a new little one 🙂
