Matthew 8:23-27
When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
If a storm comes your way in life, how do you handle it?
Are you like me? At my best, I’m a screecher.
At my worst, I throw things. (seriously. Ask my husband.)
Amazingly enough, this doesn’t endear my husband to me, and makes it harder for us to work together as a team.
This week, I need an umbrella to shield me from the fallout of a crisis. I’m fighting my innate tendency to stomp, scream and throw an adult sized temper tantrum, but it’s HARD!
It’s a lesson for me, much like the disciples, to fully rely on God when my boat is being tossed about on the waves.
Looking at the saints calendar, this week marks the feast day of Saint Paul, as well as Saints Joachim and Anne.
Paul’s story is one of the most dramatic in the Bible. A former persecutor of Christians, Paul went on to become one of the greatest missionaries of our Church.
Saints Joachim and Anne are excellent role models for parents. The information we know about them has been passed down through legend and tradition.
Need more saintly resources? Saint of the Day is available as an iPhone app! I’ll be adding it to my iPad soon and letting you know what I think.

I can totally relate! I may not through things, but I have been known to yell, say things I regret later and sulk when I get upset. Let’s pray for each other!
Thanks for faithfully hosting Saints & Scripture Sunday. I love reading the entries even if I don’t participate very often.

With lots of work, and lots of prayer, it’s much better (the fit throwing) than it used to be. I’m learning to rely on God, instead of rushing headlong into life, thinking that I’m in total control.
I’ll be happy to pray for your growth in this area …. I still have loads of room for improvement.
I appreciate you stopping by — it’s a labor of love for me, and definitely something I feel called to continue!
