Since this is my fifth baby, I’m kind of over maternity clothes.
During your first (few) pregnancies, maternity clothes are a bit of a novelty. You want to look good while pregnant, so splurging on a new wardrobe is not a big deal.
Have a few more babies, and you start looking at maternity clothes as more functional than fashionable. With my husband being in school, I’m not apt to spend a lot of money on more maternity clothes.
I was contacted by Seraphine Maternity to try out something from their Parisian chic collection.
I chose the Purple Knot Front Dress ($97). I’m a big fan of dresses and skirts, and I wanted to feel feminine!

The dress arrived quickly via Fed Ex shortly after I placed my order, and I loved it as soon as I opened the package! The material is a soft jersey knit, made to move and stretch with you. The V neck wasn’t too deep, and is easily pinnable if you don’t want to show too much cleavage. I’m 5 foot even, and the dress hits me right at the knee. Sizing is right on target – I’m a 6/8 pre pregnancy, and a size 6 dress was perfect for me.
The only drawbacks I had – I wasn’t a huge fan of the sleeves. They have a wide cuff at the wrist that creates a bit of a blousy effect – I didn’t notice it in the website pictures at first. It looks fine, but I would have preferred more of a plain finish.
Be warned when ordering a jersey knit – it shows bumps and lumps. I joked to my friend that I needed maternity Spanx! I wore a half slip with my dress, and things looked fine.
Their summer line is out on their website now, and I see dresses there that I’d love to pick up for late in this pregnancy. The short sleeve fuchsia wrap dress ($79) would be perfect for Easter, or maybe even a baby shower!
Head on over and check out their dresses, jeans (loved by celebrities), swimwear, lingerie and more. Until March 9th, you can use code EV20 to save 20% off your entire purchase. Have fun shopping, and be sure to tell me what you find!

Thanks, Anne! I’ll have to post an updated picture soon. The belly is getting much bigger.
I have a hard time with jersey knit clothing for that reason exactly, but you look stunning!

Thanks, Leanne! I’m sure some of the lumps and bumps are due to lack of running, and the candy I sneak when I am at work. Shh!
Oh, you look beautiful! The color is definitely for you!

Wow, I agree…the color is fab on you! Also, summer babies mean we’re pregnant during every major holiday. I think we really should have at least one dress we can wear!

yup — We even have an extra one here in Kentucky …. Derby!
Now I am on the hunt for some maternity tights/hose/something to cover my legs before April. I wore thigh high stocking last night with another dress, and as I was walking through the grocery, felt them start to s-l-i-d-e down. I could have ended up on America’s funniest home videos.
