What in the world, you say?
After weaning the boys back in early October, I noticed a significant muffin top. Checking the scales confirmed my fears – I’d gained about 10-15 pounds. Five years of being pregnant and/or breastfeeding meant a voracious appetite, and a quicker metabolism. Now, eating like a lumberjack means I need to buy new jeans.
Looking for a way to work out was a challenge. Tennis is my first love, but the closest tennis center is at least 30 min away. Running is easy (meaning easy to get out the door), cheap, and convenient. (no worries about having to take the children to the gym daycare during flu season)
So, while on vacation, I went running. Loosely translating into — run a little, walk a lot. I thought about the Disney Princess Half Marathon, but after talking to my friend Daune, decided to set my sights on a more reasonable goal.

This Thursday (yes, Thanksgiving Day), I’ll be running my first race while the rest of you guys are cooking turkey. I’ll be leaving Brett and the Kaboodle at home, and joining up with my friend Laurel. Here’s hoping I don’t embarrass myself too terribly.
I’d appreciate your well wishes and prayers, as well as any tips you’d like to pass on. I’ll be sure to report back with a race report by this weekend.

Thanks MJ! You need to get your booty up here for a race. How about the Anthem 5K?
Good Luck Dianna! You will make us all proud. To be honest, I’d rather be cooking. ha ha

I will be pulling and praying for you, my dear! I’m so excited and proud of you for doing this. And you’ve got to fill me in on how weaning went for you; I’m always interested in nursing stories, for my own reference. Anyway, I have a tip: don’t start too quickly in anticipation and excitement and then poop yourself out. I did that the first 2 races I was in. Maintain a nice, even steady pace from the beginning. You could even start a bit slower, which I’ve heard is an excellent tactic. I AM SO THRILLED FOR YOU!!! Please keep us updated! Sending you my love and prayers for a safe and successful first race, my sweet friend!
