Cut the Cable! Penny Pinching Party Week 2

We are a cable free household ….. yes, I know it’s weird, but we cut the cable cord for a number of different reasons.

  •  First, all of us were watching way too much TV. Abby would leave it on to go to sleep; later, I’d walk in her room, to turn it off. Have you seen the crap on the television in the middle of the night?? Eww!
  • Saves money ….. both directly and indirectly. Our package was around $40. It’s been over 2 years, so that adds up to $960! (Wow! I’m surprised it was that much! Holy moly!) We also miss out on all the advertising, so the “gotta have that” spending is way down as well.
  • Encourages more pro-active viewing — we don’t just sit in front of the tube, mindlessly changing channels. We do watch TV, but it’s DVDs. That way, it’s a little more active, instead of passive. We’re also able to control what’s on the screen.
  • More time together as a family, being active, outside!
There’s really only a few things I miss — FOX News, CSI, and sporting events!! With a bit of web surfing, I’m able to access 2 of the 3 most times.
Give it a whirl — you’ll never miss it!
