I adore reading …. everything. Fiction, non-fiction, self-help, religious, parenting, and everything in between. My children know that the one purchase I will never refuse them in a store, is a book.
Have you looked at book prices lately? Pulling Eric Carle’s The Very Busy Spider off our shelf; the list price is $11.99. Multiply that by about 100 or so books that we have, and you’re looking at almost $1200 dollars. That’s only looking at the childrens’ books.
Enter Paperback Swap.
Have books lying around your house, in good condition, that you no longer want? Post them into the system, so that other members can peruse what you have up for grabs. When someone wants your book, you’ll get an email – log into the system, click accept, print out a mailing label, and off your book goes. You’ll get a credit when the book arrives to the recipient, or you can use the PaperBack Swap delivery confirmation for instant credit.
On the flip side, you can also look for books that you want to add to your collection. Create a wish list, and you’ll get an email when your book is posted. If you have enough credits, click accept, and your book will be on its way.
Looking at my account, I’ve sent out 36 books, and received 46 books in return. PBS says I’ve saved $207 by using this system!
